MONDAY NIGHT MIXTAPE 003
Delayed gratification to Jubilo Drive and their #Mondaynightmixtape. Due to a ghastly house rave that the BR3AKTHRU team had to attend we could not upload the mix on monday. Fear not we have only returned with several STI's...
Enough about our daring adventures, on with the monday/tuesday mix.
1). Why did you choose to make rock music?
We chose rock music to play visceral and exciting music. Rock music is not so much a genre any more as much as it is an idea and a feeling- the spirit of rejecting other authority for your own, and enjoying life and the fine sensations in it.
2). What are your aims as a band?
We aim to provide the best music with the most interesting image and packaging that we possibly can. We live for performance.
3). How's the rock scence out there in Cali?
California boasts an amazing and diverse rock scene. In any given week, you could find a folksy beach-hippie show, a hardcore punk show, ska/reggae/dub infused rock, acid rock about aliens and the desert, and straight forward radio friendly indie pop. California is a huge state with many different life styles and it yields so many different things. There’s a major culture of throwing shows in backyards or living rooms as well. Because of the sprawl and local scene, going to a show may mean driving forty minutes to a strangers house or a storage unit to see a cult favorite. We’re stoked to be a part of it.
4). What are you're musical influences?
We all share an affinity for classic rock, psychedelic music, punk (and its derivatives), and oldies. Henry: ska, reggae and skater music. Eric: progressive metal and metal core, hard and dark electronic music. Jordan: jam bands and funk (he is the biggest rock listener among the band). Hayden: desert rock, eccentric electronic music, jazz. Henry, Eric and Hayden have loved hip hop and rap for many years; Jordan did not grow up with it but listening with the rest of the band has piqued his interest.
5). What is your favourite thing about BR3AKTHRU?
BR3AKTHRU has great original content. We loved the ego post, so many people (us included from time to time) get wrapped up in petty drama- it’s easy to lose sight of your truth when life seems heavy. Also, RICHARD BRANSON! THAT’S PRETTY MASSIVE! EXCELLENT WORK GENTLEMEN. That dude built an empire from the ground up, and then went to space. He earned his knighthood.
