Starred Up is the new gritty and frank British drama which follows the story of Eric Love (played by Jack O’Connell), a 19 year-old violent and troubled teenager making the difficult transition from a young offenders’ institute to adult prison.
Eric seems to be destined to a life behind bars, but the prison’s rather eccentric therapist (Rupert Friend) is resolute in ensuring he not only helps him through the transition to adult prison but ultimately helps him break the cycle. Friend is assisted by of one of the prison’s longest serving inmates – Neville (Ben Mendelsohn), who is also Eric’s father, making for an atypical dynamic between the two.
The film also features a stellar cast, including; Anthony Welsh (My Brother the Devil, Red Tails, Comes A Bright Day), David Ajala (The Dark Knight, Fast and Furious) and Ashley Chin (Victim).
